Father Jon Aamodt

Missionary Bishop and Priest

Hello and greetings in Jesus!

Along with my wife, Cheryl, I have served in Christian ministry for over 30 years as an ordained Anglican priest and Baptist pastor. I currently lead our new church plant in the Anderson, South Carolina, area. Over the years, I’ve ministered as a chaplain, church planter, speaker, retreat leader, senior pastor, teacher and football coach, worship leader, and youth pastor. I hold a Master of Divinity degree from Gateway Seminary (formerly Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary).

Our Spiritual Heritage

Discover a faith that is both fresh and timeless. We are a modern church grounded in the ancient rhythms of Celtic and Anglican Christianity, and we’d love for you to join us on the journey.

Core Beliefs

An open Bible illustrating the commitment of The Altar Church to the timeless truths of Scripture.

We are a new community of Spirit-filled, missional, and sacramental people who love Jesus and seek to follow Him together. Our desire is to live out His teachings in everyday life and to join in advancing God’s Kingdom through the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit.

Our faith is rooted in the timeless truths of Scripture and the witness of the ancient Church. Together with Christians around the world, we joyfully affirm the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.

While we express our faith in fresh and contemporary ways, our foundation is the same enduring truth: “the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).

We’d love for you to join us as we walk this journey of faith, hope, and love together.

Our Tanzania Connection

We are grateful to partner with the Anglican Diocese of Biharamulo in Tanzania. Each year, Fr. Bob leads a mission trip to the diocese, strengthening friendships, encouraging local churches, and joining in the work God is doing there.
